Three Ways to Teach Your Child About the Real Meaning of Christmas

I love this time of the year! Thanksgiving and Christmas time has always been my favorite holidays. I look forward to the Christmas lights and decor, finding the perfect Christmas gifts for my children, and spending time enjoying my family. Although I love all these moments, this year I want to make sure I share the true meaning of Christmas with my children: the birth of Jesus Christ.
ZonderKidz recently came out with The Beginner’s Bible Christmas gift collection, composed of different types of children’s books dedicated to the story of the first Christmas. I plan on using this gift collection to teach my children about the true meaning of Christmas. Here are three ways you can use their books to teach your children about what Christmas is really all about.
Reading Story Books
Reading story books is something I already do with my children daily. For the month of December, I plan on reading different books about the first Christmas to them. ZonderKidz have a number of wonderful books that are beautifully illustrated and depict the story of the first Christmas very well. My little twins love the book, Little Lamb’s Christmas, which tells the story of Jesus Christ’s birth through the eyes of a little lamb. My kids get excited to see the finger puppet lamb pop out on every page we turn!
My older twins love the book, Jesus is Born. This book shares the journey Joseph and Mary go through to safely deliver Jesus Christ. This book does an amazing job at depicting very important parts of this story such as when angels came to visit shepherds to share the good news of Jesus’ birth and the story of the three wise men. The older twins, Ada and Ari, love reading this book over and over and retelling the story to their younger siblings.

Using Activity Books
Ada and Ari enjoy reading and writing so using The Beginner’s Bible activity books was a no brainer in helping them learn more about the first Christmas. Although Ada and Ari already know their alphabet, The Beginner’s Bible Learn Your Letters: A Wipe Away Book helps them practice their writing while learning different words related to the bible and the story of Jesus Christ. They especially love The Beginner’s Bible A Christmas Celebration Sticker & Activity Book. It’s filled with puzzles, mazes and different interactive games and activities. The twins favorite part of this activity book are all the different stickers included.

Reading the Bible
If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t, follow me here) and watch my stories, you know that we already read The Beginners Bible Timeless Children’s Stories every night. We read one story each night and at the end of every story, the kids beg to read another to see what happens next. ZonderKidz have now come out with a beautiful Gift Edition of the same children’s bible that we love. This bible is perfect for every child. The pictures on each page is so vibrant and beautiful and each story is set up in a way for your child not only understand what happened in the story but also to understand the message behind it.
